Skilled Sponsored Visa
This permanent work visa is for skilled workers from overseas who do not meet the required points for a Skilled-Independent visa.
Applicants are required to be sponsored/nominated by either:
- An eligible Australian relative; or
- A State or Territory government of Australia.
This work visa may be applied for inside or outside Australia and all applicants must meet health and character criteria. Visa applicants will also need to meet the English language requirement and be under the age of 45 at the time of visa application.

Sponsorship by an Eligible Australian Relative
The following relatives are eligible to be sponsors for Skilled Sponsored visas:
- parents;
- brothers & sisters;
- uncles & aunts;
- nieces & nephews;
- non-dependent children (this includes adopted, half and step-relatives).
The sponsor must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or Eligible New Zealand citizen AND must be 'usually resident' in Australia.
